RESERVATION & PAYMENT
When booking a trip with Gatatu Safaris you are required to at least pay 50% as a deposit at least 8 weeks before the commencement of the trip to enable effective booking and payment of accommodation plus the park entrance permits. The remaining 50% is to be cleared 3 weeks to departure or on arrival.
Foe Gorilla and chimpanzee tracking permits advance booking of more than 12 weeks is recommended since there is high demand and can be booked out during the peak season.
Payment is preferred through bank transfer. In Kampala payment is through mainly US dollars, Euros and British pounds.
Gatatu safaris clients will be responsible for their airfare to/from Uganda, visa fees if applicable, airport transfers, meals and accommodation in Kampala, transport in and around Kampala, supplemental activities not included in the itinerary, refreshments and beverages (between meal snacks, alcohol, other refreshments), personal items (porterage, telephone calls and souvenirs), tips and gratuities.
Refunds are calculated after deduction of cancellation fees levied by hotels, lodges and banks. Gatatu Safaris has a 50% charge on cancellations with 12-35 days, 75% charge with 2-24 days, and no refund for cancellations of forty-eight hours or less.
In case of any costs incurred from advance payment Gatatu Safari reserves the right to deduct all expenses. Gorilla permits are non-refundable but are transferable under some circumstances.
Gatatu Safaris cannot accept liability for any injury, damage or delay caused directly by hotels, restaurants, transport carriers or any other service agency or company with whom bookings have been made as well as our other suppliers.
Gatatu Safaris reserves the right to change any route arrangement or to cancel carrying out any tour should any political or environmental occurrence necessitates so and puts our clients in any trouble. Gatatu Safaris reserves the right to decline, accept or retain any member of a tour at any time. If a client fails to join a tour in the required time for departure or leave earlier before completion, Gatatu Safaris will bear no responsibility of any additional transportation, accommodation or any other service to such individual(s). No refunds will be made for client failure to attend or complete a booked tour.
Transfer of booking
In case of a failure by a client to travel due to unexpected circumstances Gatatu Safaris may transfer the booking to another party provided the arrangements remain the same, and provided that suppliers (airlines, hotels, etc) are all ready to accept the transfer. Gorilla permits are transferable only in a few instances and this should not be expected.
Mode of payment
Gatatu Safaris accepts payment in US dollars. You may by cash to our bank account and whilein Uganda local currency will be accepted at the current dollar buying rates of Uganda.
Gatatu Safaris advises you to buy travel insurance before you set of to Uganda. Local evacuation coverage is available in the unlikely event of a medical emergency. Gatatu safaris can be able to arrange this in case you inform them at the time of booking. Clients participation in any activities during your visit will be at the clients own risk and we cannot accept any liability for injury or accident during the tour.
Bookings made with Gatatu Safaris expects clients do not have any specific medical problem that requires special attention. This applies to the client’s dietary needs too and Gatatu Safaris will not accept any liability for this. We request and expect our clients to take care of their international insurance coverage plus evacuation.
All bookings are accepted on the specific condition that Gatatu Safaris and its agents act only as agents in all matters relating to hotel/lodge accommodations, tours, transport, etc. we cannot accept liability for injury, delay, loss or damage in any manner whatsoever.
We also reserve the right to employ subcontractors to carry out all or part of the services agreed to be supplied. All claims are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Uganda.
Complaints by our clients
Since payments are made in cash in Uganda contrary to the Western style of payments, its extremely difficult to make cash refunds on the ground if the inconsistencies are not solved while still in Uganda.
You are advised to always voice your complaints about any inconveniences caused during the trip to the driver/guide. Most problems will be solved by the guide and also our office that is on call 24 hours a day.
